The 5 Most Expensive Homes For Sale Around the World
On Thursday, we shared an article on our Facebook page about the most expensive home on the market in the US - a 21-bedroom, 42-bathroom megaplex of a house in Bel Air, California. It got us thinking, what other village-sized homes are being sold out there? So here are the 5 most expensive homes in the world for you to drool over and/or dream about, courtesy of the Robb Report.
5. $247 million - the penthouse at One Hyde Park in London, England

This 2-story, 18,000sqft apartment (APARTMENT!) is in London's most expensive neighborhood, Knightsbridge. It boasts 5 bedrooms, a Swarovski crystal chandelier, and secret champagne room. What you're most paying for, though, is the incredible view from the wrap-around terraces, which overlook the famous Hyde Park and the London skyline.
4. $250 million - Caesarea, Israel

Have you ever wished you could live in Versailles, but didn't want to learn French? Then this Israeli mansion might be your dream home! Sprawling across 63,130sqft, this home features marble and onyx accents, a crystal chandelier, two large fountains, two pools, two saunas, a private spa, and a gym. Are simple crown moldings too pedestrian for your style? Then you'll love the 14-karat gold moldings throughout the whole house!
3. $250 million - Cedarbrook Dr, Los Angeles, California

Though this home looks just like the Bel Air mansion we posted about a couple of days ago, it's actually a different one! Though it has the same modern hillside architecture as the Bel Air house, this one does not, alas, come with a nightclub. It does, however, include two turntables in its 5-car garage so your cars can slowly spin as you show them off to your friends! It does also include a bowling alley, cigar lounge, wine cellar, wine tasting room, and 36-person movie theater. There is, of course, the obligatory pool with its own lounge area. As a bonus, your guests can live in their own separate guest house, perfect for when your entire address book decides to come take in this real estate marvel!
2. $487 million - 24 Middle Gap Rd, Hong Kong, China

While this house doesn't look like it'd be a regular on the list of Most Expensive Homes for Sale, especially considering it only sits on a third of an acre, it's located in Hong Kong's Peak neighborhood, where a few years ago another home sold for $657 million. The 2-story, 6,200sqft home has 4 bedrooms, 4.5 baths, and a swimming pool.
1. $532 million - Villa Aurora in Rome, Italy

First of all, this half-billion dollar home is currently owned by a literal princess. Second of all, the home is an impressive 30,000sqft with 6 stories. However, it is sorely lacking in renovations and updates, and therefore may leave prospective buyers scratching their heads at the price. But you see, the money isn't for the house itself -- it's for the priceless art it houses. The house is home to "the only Caravaggio ceiling fresco in existence", frescoes by Guercino, and even a statue in the driveway believed to be by Michelangelo - those alone are worth more than than the seemingly-steep cost of the home!
