As bored mounts and the thermometer reading gets higher and higher this summer, you're probably looking for ways to keep cool and keep sane. Here are some suggestions for the best places to splash around and keep cool!

Hurricane Harbor at Six Flags

13710 Central Ave, Bowie, MD 20721

https://www.sixflags.com/america/things-to-do/rides/water-rides#water-park

This wouldn’t be a comprehensive list of Maryland water parks without Six Flags’ Hurricane Harbor! This park is Maryland’s largest water park, and that will become immediately apparent when you see how many elaborate water slides and adventure areas this park has. For smaller children, Buccaneer Beach (a water playground) and mini water slides are more than enough to fill their day. Meanwhile, older children and adults will love the tubing slides, raft slides, interactive water play area, and whirlpool. If you’re looking to float around but still maintain your sense of adventure, grab a float and make your way down Wahoo River, a tubing river with waterfalls, geysers, waves, and “action zones”.

South Germantown SplashPark & MiniGolf

18056 Central Park Circle, Boyds, MD 20841

This waterpark is a favorite with the Montgomery and Howard County crowds. A day pass will give you and your crew access to a water maze, spraying animals, a cave hidden behind a waterfall, a water slide, and the super popular “jumping pillow”. Pack a lunch, and eat at one of the many picnic tables with umbrellas. When you’re all watered out, use the changing rooms to get dry, then head over to the mini-golf course for more fun!

Glen Dale Splash Pad

11901 Glenn Dale Blvd, Glenn Dale MD

A PG County staple, this splash pad is perfect for families with younger children. Toddlers will love the age-appropriate water slides and beach-like wading areas, while older siblings will love adventuring through the mushroom waterfall, lily pad and log crossing, and larger water slides. There is also a traditional splash pad for those who are looking to jump in puddles instead of wading around. There are also picnic areas, changing rooms with lockers, and bathrooms.

North Arundel Aquatic Center

7888 Crain Highway S., Glen Burnie, MD 21061

Anne Arundel County locals swear by this indoor water park for beating the summer heat. Featuring a small water slide for young children, and a larger waterslide for older and more adventurous kids and adults, you can also enjoy the “water merry-go-round” in the vortex pool, or splash around in the wading pool!

Chesapeake Beach Water Park

4079 Gordon Stinnett Ave, Chesapeake Beach, MD 20732

Located right off of the Chesapeake Bay, this park will definitely make you feel like you’re on an exciting beach somewhere tropical! This park features two big water slides, six smaller water slides, a kid’s pool, a lagoon for splashing and floating, a full-menu dining area, and cabana and pavilion rentals for summer parties!
